Did you know: Picture books are not just colorful illustrated pages, but also a distinctive form of art education, where images and language coexist to touch the inner world of children?

For the first time in Vietnam, a large-scale space connecting art and education dedicated to picture books appears: Vietnam Children’s Picturebook Festival (VCPF 2026).

Not only a cultural reading event, this is also a journey to build a creative ecosystem, opening opportunities for direct encounters between readers and illustrators, authors, and publishers. Through this, VCPF aims to become a bridge to honor Vietnamese picture books rich in identity, while expanding opportunities for exchange and learning from international peers.

WHAT AWAITS YOU AT THE VIETNAM CHILDREN’S PICTUREBOOK FESTIVAL 2026?

1. Exhibition “100 Vietnamese Picture Books to Love and Remember”

The exhibition introduces 100 outstanding Vietnamese picture books, reflecting the development of local picture books over 20 years (2006 – 2026). Through this showcase, the public can better understand the artistic and cultural value of Vietnamese picture books, while honoring local authors and illustrators.

2. Korean Picture Book Exhibition

This year’s guest of honor is South Korea. Representatives from Korean publishers will bring over 90 high-quality picture book titles from the “land of kimchi” to the festival.

3. Picture Book Fair

A space gathering publishers, distributors, and booths showcasing creative handmade products suitable for children and those-who-were-once-children. Families, kids, and young people can discover quality books and meet their favorite authors and illustrators.

4. Talkshows & Panel Discussions

A place where experts in education, publishing, illustration, and culture come together to discuss the role of picture books in education and society.

Topics may include: using picture books in classrooms, picture books as an art form, the role of picture books in nurturing empathy and social understanding in children, …

5. Multi-sensory Creative Activity Space

• Workshops: Experience illustration drawing, craft-making, storytelling,… guided by authors and illustrators.
• Booktalk: An intimate space where authors, illustrators, or publishers share their creative journeys and behind-the-scenes stories.
• Interactive reading: Opportunities for families and children to read together and actively engage with stories through storytelling, acting, sound, and games,…
• Creative performances: Families and children can enjoy performances such as illustrated storytelling, music, visual arts,… conveying meaningful messages.

6. Copyright Exchange Room

A dedicated space for publishers, authors, illustrators, and copyright representatives from Vietnam and abroad to meet and connect for collaboration opportunities. This activity promotes the trading and exchange of picture book copyrights, helping Vietnamese picture books reach international audiences while bringing high-quality international works to Vietnamese readers.
