International stand-up comedy returns on Wednesday November 4 to Ho Chi Minh City and Thursday November 5 to Hanoi with a comedic line-up headlined by the highly acclaimed Canadian comic, Glenn Wool.
A veteran on the comedy scene, Glenn started performing in 1995 in his hometown of Vancouver. After moving to London in 1998, he was nominated for Best International Stand Up at The New Zealand Comedy Awards and Best Headliner at the Chortle Awards and soon became a rising star on the international comedy circuit performing to large audiences in places as far flung as Australia, New Zealand, USA, South Africa, Switzerland, France, Croatia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Holland, Dubai, New York and Los Angeles.
Known for his melodramatic, over-the-top delivery, Glenn is a serial festival performer, having played at all of the UK’s top festivals — Reading, Leeds, Latitude, Bestival, Download and Glastonbury. Numerous TV appearances have also been in the offering including John Oliver’s New York Comedy Show, The Melbourne Comedy Gala, Funny as Hell in Canada and Russell Howard’s Good News in the UK. This will be Glenn’s third visit to Vietnam.
In support at the Saigon show on Wednesday November 4 at Game On will be British comic, Graham Wooding. Starting out on the comedy scene after leaving performing arts college and driving comedians to gigs around the UK, he quickly found a love and talent for stand up and after only 11 shows won a coveted new act award. He then joined the professional circuit and spent six years honing his craft and touring the UK, performing solo and with comedy groups. He is a veteran of five Edinburgh festivals having worked as a performer, writer and assistant director. He is also the founding member of Thailand-based comedy club, Bangkok Hilarious. The event will be compered by Saigon-based gagster Tat Wa Lay.
At the Hanoi show on Thursday November 5 at House of Son Tinh, Glenn Wool will be supported by the growing posse of local stand-ups that make up the ever-more-hilarious Hanoi Comedy Collective.
