Suffering from rectinoblastoma in both eyes, Le Thi Kim Yen, an 18 month old child living in An Giang province, was admitted to Children ward of HCMC Oncological Hospital. Yen's parents are labor workers so the family's income is unstable. Because of that Yen's parents are unable to pay for part of her treatment that is not covered by health insurance, as well as money for traveling and food. According to the doctor, Yen's condition requires long term treatment and monitoring but the family's circumstance does not allow that.

Dang Kieu My, 2 years old currently living in An Giang province, is also treating her blood cancer at HCMC Oncological Hospital. My's parents are labor workers who had to stop working to tend for her. Since her condition turned worse, My's parents had to take out a 30 million loan to cover all the fees of the long term treatment that are not covered in the health insurance. My's Mother said that a lot of medications are expensive buf due to the family's circumstance, the treatment is constantly delayed"
