Public Electric Bus Routes, Run by VinBus, May Be Coming to Hanoi

The routes would utilize electric buses manufactured by VinFast.

Tuoi Tre reports that Hanoi's municipal government is looking into a proposal from the city Department of Transport to start running subsidized electric bus routes in the capital.

Accordingly, ten such routes would be launched and operated by VinBus, the passenger transport company founded by Vingroup last year. Up to 200 buses built by VinFast would be used.

If the plan is approved, Vingroup would act as the temporary supplier of electric bus services to the Hanoi People's Committee. The conglomerate would also build a bus management and operations center, a network of bus battery charging stations, and overnight parking areas.

The news source adds that Vingroup is now working with the Vietnam Register to make sure the VinBus vehicles meet technical and environmental regulations, as they have not yet been approved for public use.

Drivers, sales assistants and management personnel have reportedly already been trained by VinBus while the firm awaits approval of the bus network. No details on which parts of Hanoi the routes will cover have been provided.
