Vietnam to Increase Speed Limits on Urban Roads

Starting in March, Saigon will increase the speed limit on its urban roads by 10 kilometers per hour (kph).

Thanks to a Ministry of Transport circular released on December 31, speed limits will no longer be governed by vehicle type but rather by the kind of road upon which those vehicles travel, reports Tuoi Tre.

For roads with central medians and two-lane roads with one-way traffic, speed limits will now rise to 60kph, while all other roads will increase to 50kph. This varies from current regulations, in which speed limits are enforced based upon the type of vehicle, with separate regulations for trucks, cars and motorbikes.
