While you may have noticed a chill in the air on your morning commute today, northern Vietnam registered some real winter weather this weekend as snow fell in Sapa and temperatures plummeted in Hanoi.
According to VnExpress, 24 northern provinces recorded temperatures below 8.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday, some hitting their lowest temperatures in seven years. On Sunday morning, Sapa was an icy -2 Celsius, while Lang Son province's Mau Son came in at -4 degrees; Hanoi was slightly warmer but still a brisk 6 degrees Celsius.
Thanks to this cold front, parts of northern Vietnam were also blanketed in snow, with locals layering up to stay warm while tourists appeared in droves to catch a glimpse of the white stuff. According to Tuoi Tre, the winter chill is expected to last until Wednesday, partially affecting central and southern Vietnam as well.
