BackStories » Vietnam » You Can Now Travel From Saigon to Phan Thiet in a New Luxury Passenger Car

On September 2, Saigon Railways unveiled a newly renovated car on the SPT8 train running from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet, right on time for the country’s national day celebration and the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s North-South railway line.

The interior of the car resembles that of an aircraft. According to Tuoi Tre, the passenger car has 56 reclining seats, each of which is equipped with a reading light, air-conditioner control and USB charging outlets. The toilets are also outfitted with modern amenities.

A sleeper car with environmentally friendly composite berths will also start service soon, reports Tuoi Tre. It will feature LED lights, windows with high-quality sunshades and washing basins with infrared sensors. Travelers in this car will enjoy a safer and smoother experience since it employs Japanese shock absorbers and dampers.
