About Textile Linker: started in 2017 by Nguyen Huyen, Textile Linker is a not for profit project to explore Vietnamese heritage textile. She works closely without the artisans to share the inside stories of makers and encourage interdisciplinary collaborations to develop the traditional crafts in modern life.

About Hoa Tien Brocade: Hoa Tien Brocade Cooperative is the Brocade products manufacturer of Hoa Tien village, one of Vietnam’s most ancient and famous weaving and embroidery cradle of Thai ethnic minority over more than 100 years old. Founded in 2010 by Mrs Sam Thi Bich, it’s mission is to preserve and develop the traditional culture of Thai group, and also improve the livelihood of women living there. Following the passion of her mother, Mrs Sam Thi Tinh, currently living in Hanoi, opened her home studio to promote more extensively her local traditional crafts of weaving, embroidery and natural dye techniques.

Our collaboration: Working with Sam Thi Tinh, Nguyen Huyen organizes a range of textile workshops about natural dye, embroidery and weaving in Hanoi. She also organized the Pattern Story exhibition to explore the ingenious stories behind the decorative patterns of Thai ethnic vintage textiles from Quy Chau District, Nghe An Province. After the exhibition, an okay weaving tour was organized to meet the artisan Sam Thi Bich - leader of Hoa Tien village cooperative and learn this special technique in Tinh’s hometown - Nghe An Province.
