Do Tu Tung, a 15-year-old bodybuilder from Bac Ninh recently won three gold medals at the 2019 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Youth World Championships in Las Vegas.

According to a report from the IWF, Tung set the youth world record in the snatch at 95 kg, the clean and jerk at 125 kg, and the total weight, at 220 kg, in the men’s 49 kg body weight category. These accomplishments earned him three gold medals — the same as the first-ranked weightlifters in other categories during the same event.

Tung dominated over the second-place competitor, Romanian Florin Cosmin Krupla, by 40 kg, according to Dan Tri. He also competed against seven strong rivals from Turkey, Ecuador, the United States, Mauritius, and Saudi Arabia on the opening day of the championships.

Previously, the young man also set three world records in the men’s 50 kg category at the 2018 IWF Asian Youth Championships in Urgench, Uzbekistan, according to the IWF record. Furthermore, he also finished 15th in the men’s 50 kg category at the 2017 IWF Youth World Championships in Bangkok.

According to the IWF, on the second day of the same event, Nguyen Thi Thu Trang from Vietnam earned three gold medals in the women’s 45 kg category with the snatch at 66 kg, clean and jerk at 75 kg, and total weight at 141 kg.

The competition runs until March 15.
