Over the past 53 years, Saigon has undergone tremendous growth. With the addition of gleaming skyscrapers and dense packs of residential buildings, the city has lost much of its colonial luster and is no longer considered “Pearl of the Orient.”
Luckily, this version of the city still exists in old photographs like these taken by American magazine, LIFE, which capture everything from the street life to the fashion of 1961 Saigon.
