[Video] Local Orchestra Performs World’s Most Organized Flashmob in Hanoi

In a country where most parts of your day can feel like a flashmob, sometimes an organized performance is even more surprising.

Members of Rhapsody Philharmonic, a local collective which aims to vivify orchestral instruments by playing modern hits for Vietnam’s younger generations, put on such a performance last year at one of Hanoi’s busiest roundabouts. Though the show begins with only a trio of musicians – a drummer, a violinist and a guitarist – a DJ soon appears, Macbook in hand. Throngs of other musicians and their instruments file onto the “stage” as the crowd of onlookers grows.

While it doesn’t exactly feel as serendipitous as most flashmobs, Rhapsody Philharmonic’s rendition of “Wake Me Up” by Avicii is obviously well-received by the audience.
