Work on the Opera House station of the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien line has gone into overdrive.

According to Tuoi Tre, the Urban Railway Management Board hopes to allow members of the public to visit the station by the April 30 holiday.

The station consists of four floors underground and is 190 meters long and 26 meters wide.

The first floor contains passenger amenities such as ticket machines, entry gates and restrooms. The second and fourth levels are platforms for boarding and disembarking trains, and the third floor contains technical and staff areas.

A representative of the management board told the news source the work on the station is in its final stages, and they plan to allow people to visit the location under the guidance of metro staff by the end of April.

Workers are also hurrying to restore the park in front of the Opera House, between Nguyen Hue and Dong Khoi streets, which was handed back to the city after being torn up for metro construction.

The entire Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien line is currently 71% complete, and the first trains for the route are expected to arrive in June, with testing to begin later this year. Officials hope to put it into operation by the end of 2021.
