Screening: Short movies by Surrealist Artists @ Salon Saigon

From the organizer: Salon Saigon presents 3 films most representative of the Surrealism movement.

Entr’Acte, written by Francis Picabia, a dadaist artist, in 1924, is considered to be the first surrealist film. Entr’Acte, which was played during the intermission of Ballet Suédois, is a two-part film showing a succession of surrealistic scenes.

L’Étoile de mer (the Starfish), is a 1928 film, directed by Man Ray, a dadaist and surrealist artist. By making this movie Man Ray wanted to visualised the Robert Desnos poem, L’Étoile de mer.

Un Chien Andalou, is one of the most well known surrealist film. The film was directed by Luis Bunuel and Salvador Dali. The film represents multiple scenes related by similar characters but in a disjointed chronology.
