This December 19, you are invited to a momumental “Night at the Opera” gala concert by Saigon Philharmonic Orchestra (SPO). Come celebrate your 2019 year-end and welcome the brand new decade in a grandiose musical space of customs and traditions, filled with festivity, with a repertoire spanning from Romantic and Classical eras, back in 19th and 20th century. The concert is inspired by traditional European New Year concert style, which includes operas, instrumental music and piano solo!
Join us in a magnificent night where we’ll show you the magic of the world’s best-loved opera arias and piano masterpiece, with music by masters such as J. Strauss, G. Verdi, G. Donizetti, S. Rachmaninoff, to name only a few, and famous opera arias from “Die Fledermaus”, “La Traviata”, “Lucia di Lammermoor”,“Paganini” will be performed. SPO is delighted to welcome back the highly acclaimed Conductor Hans Richter - great grandson of Maestro Hans Richter of the 19th century. He will be joined by distinguished soloists and guest appearances in a glittering “Night at the Opera” on the stage of the iconic Saigon Opera House. “A Night at the Opera” also wrapped up a wonderful year of Saigon Philharmonic Orchestra, we have reaped great success with many huge accomplishments in both music and education achieved. Especially, the orchestra will embark on a Germany’s 7-city tour in 2020, which is a monumental milestone in SPO’s history of operation. Moreover, 11 talented students from Saigon Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (SPYO) will be given the precious opportunity to be a part of this tour, to perform along side with their teachers and share their music to the world.
With that being said, the pre-tour gala concert "A Night at the Opera" will also serve the purpose of raising fund for the tour. By coming to the show, you are funding a part to support and inspire young talents of SPYO in their upcoming tour, making their dreams come true. This is also an important event to connect sponsors, respected organizations and business leaders in Ho Chi Minh City, to join us as partners, to witness and contribute to the side-by-side development of the Arts and Economy of our nation.
