Back Events Near Me » BamunityVietnam - Creating Healing - Resilience for the future @ War Remnants Museum

Bamunity is a timely exploration of the intersection between art, heritage, nature, and the healing of historical wounds. This is a participatory art project showcased at the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City. Designers artist workers and children have all participated in making work which were also uploaded to our bamboo Community online - we call it our Bamunity. Eighteen works from all those submitted were selected for this exhibition at the War Remnants Museum.

This project shines a light on the generational impacts of war, illustrating how art, heritage, and nature can be powerful tools for healing trauma. As we navigate through these themes, we will see how the metaphor of bamboo—known for its resilience and strength—serves as a beacon of hope and recovery for those affected by the tumultuous history of Vietnam.

The bamboo stand is the inspiration for these images, planted decades ago at the War Remnants Museum, has long served as a refuge for visitors. The rustling leaves offer a reminder of the peaceful countryside, providing a moment of tranquility after confronting the painful memories preserved within the museum walls. This natural sanctuary not only helps to soothe contemporary visitors but also symbolizes the enduring spirit of the Vietnamese people.
