Formed in 2016, Saigon Soul Revival has been bringing the vibrant sounds of pre-1975 Saigon back to life. Now after 2 albums and multiple international tours, including performances at legendary festivals like WOMAD (UK), FMM (PT), Trans Musicales (FR), XJAZZ (DE) and WOMADelaide (AUS), the band’s sound continues to evolve as they reimagine the golden era of nhạc vàng music from the 1960s and 70s. Blending traditional Vietnamese instruments with the Western influenced sounds of the time such as rock, soul and psychedelia, SSR weaves a sonic tapestry that spans across decades and cultures while firmly rooted and inspired by the energy of Saigon’s southern soul.
