The French Institute in Vietnam is pleased to present the dance performance “Duyên ngày nợ đêm” (Ce que le jour doit à la nuit) by French-Algerian choreographer Hervé Koubi as part of his special tour in Vietnam in June 2026.

As one of Hervé Koubi’s most acclaimed works, the performance has captivated audiences on international stages through its compelling fusion of hip-hop, b-boying, contemporary dance, ballet, and acrobatics. On stage, powerful movements, spectacular lifts, and visually striking group formations create an artistic experience that is both grand and deeply emotional.

Inspired by Yasmina Khadra’s novel of the same name, the work invites audiences on a reflective journey through origins, memory, identity, and encounters between cultures. Under Hervé Koubi’s direction, the spirit of street dance is transformed into a poetic contemporary dance language, where urban energy blends with meditative beauty and the cultural depth of the Mediterranean.

Bringing together 14 dancers from hip-hop and street dance backgrounds, “Duyên ngày nợ đêm” is not only an impressive display of technique but also a dialogue between tradition and modernity, between the body, memory, and art.
