We are delighted to announce that UK blues-rock band LITTLE BARRIE will make their Loud Minority return at Cargo Bar on 27th May.
It’s now 2 years since Loud Minority started bringing some of the world’s most exciting artists to these shores for the first time. While it has not been without its problems, the pioneering Saigon indie/rock night has endured and is now seeing the first return of one of one of its’ alumni.
Little Barrie is the brainchild of one of the UK’s leading guitarists, Barrie Cadogan (Primal Scream). Having played with Morrissey, Edwyn Collins, the Chemical Brothers, Spiritualized and Paul Weller, Barrie now divides his time equally between Little Barrie and Primal Scream. The softly-spoken diminutive axeman is known for taking on a whole different persona as soon as he hits the stage, with all the mastery and showmanship of a rock legend.
Chaos greeted the band on their first visit to Vietnam in 2013, when Loud Minority was in its’ infancy. The venue had to be changed at the eleventh hour to the Apocalypse Now club. While this change divided opinion and resulted in a number of refunds being issued, for those who were there that night, what transpired was truly one of Saigon’s greatest nights of rock n roll. As Secret Asians’ drummer, Simon Gibson said, ‘That’s still the best show I’ve ever seen in Saigon’.
Their latest album ‘Shadow’ has received universal praise across the media, with NME crediting the three-piece for ‘taking rock back to its thrilling basics’. They will also soon be heard in living rooms around the world through their score to the US hit TV series, Better Call Saul, the prequel to the all-conquering Breaking Bad.
