So there's a new kid in town!

Salsateka UK one of the best Latin Parties in the UK has decided to spread its wings and come to Saigon with 'Salsateka UK in Vietnam'! 

From what we have seen and heard so far....it sounds like they are gonna take the already amazing Saigon salsa scene up another level!

We decided to track down the founding members Will Knight and Marta Bartosz to find out a bit more......

Hey guys, so tell me why did you come to Saigon?

Marta- Well we came here on holiday two years ago and instantly fell in love with the people, the food, the atmosphere and just the crazy energy wherever you go in the city!

Will- We got the opportunity to transfer over here and decided straight away, we were gonna move. We sold everything we owned in the UK (house, car, personal belongings and moved here with a one way ticket, working visa and just 30kgs of luggage each!

Wow! That's some fast moving! So tell us about Salsateka UK?

Will- We love Latin music, and all things related to the Latin Dance dance scene and that's largely to do with the amazing people you meet every day. Marta is one of the most respected Bachata and Salsa teachers in the North of the UK and although I have a day job as a Financial Advisor...I love to dance and listen to the amazing music! But as with a lot of things, there was starting to be a lot of unnecessary politics involved with different dance schools and promotors and a lot of silly stuff being said.

Marta - We wanted to break down those barriers and bring everyone together again, so we negotiated a deal with one of the best Venues in the UK, teamed up with the best DJ's and some of the best international artists, performers and teachers such as Yersin Rivas and got to work!

The response was incredible....the first night was a sell out, the club venue were happy and my inbox got inundated with thank you messages from all over the UK. It felt as if we were really doing something good for the community!

So what's the plan now?

Will- Well we always had a plan to take the brand international. Our partners in the UK who run things for us each have a desire to take Salsateka back to their home countries using other partners....we have plans to go back to Cuba, Brasil, Spain, and even Rwanda too start with!

Marta- When we got to Saigon we couldn't believe how amazing the Salsa Scene was. On our second day we went to 'La Salsa' and were immediately impressed by the warm welcome we received by the great dancers and owners there. The we continued from venue to venue meeting amazing people everywhere. We went to the incredible Vietnam International Latin Fiesta organised by Lucerne Ngo from La Danza which was full of talent and passion at every turn! We met even more of the Saigon key players, dancers and performers and have been welcomed with open arms by them all.
