[Video] Fatal Head-on Collision Caused by Drunk Driver

While the Vietnamese government has launched campaigns to curb drunk driving, it remains a serious problem across the country. This video, posted by Thanh Nein, shows the deadly consequences of this reckless act and reminds us never to get too comfortable when driving our motorbikes.

According to Major General Tuyen, 80 percent of traffic violations and 30% of road fatalities in Vietnam are related to drunk driving.

The practice is also seriously hurting the economy. Nguyen Hoang Hiep, deputy chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee, said that the country lost 2.6 percent of its GDP, or US$3.5 billion, to traffic accidents related to drinking and driving in 2012.

According to the video description, both the drivers were killed in the crash.

All one can do is keep a high awareness while driving and hope that the metro will be finished on schedule.
