[Video] Worlds Collide in New Son Tung M-TP Single Featuring Snoop Dogg

You heard that right.

On July 1, Vietnamese pop heartthrob Son Tung M-TP released his newest single 'Hãy Trao Cho Anh,' which features a collaboration with American rapper Snoop Dogg, Tuoi Tre reports.

"Eventually I could take pictures with my big idol whom I’ve been loving since I was a little boy," writes Son Tung M-TP on his official Facebook page.

The music video accompanying the song stars American singer and actress Madison Beer, and serves as Vietnam's newest addition to the endless list of music videos filmed in deserts — from classic rock solos, 90s boy bands to Latin pop songs and Beyoncé. The desert aesthetics have graced several music videos by Vietnamese pop artists as well, for example, those by Khanh Thy and 365daband.

Needless to say, the music video is already a hit, racking up 12 million views on YouTube in just 12 hours. At the time of writing, the video is also ranked No. 1 and No. 2 on YouTube's top trending lists in Vietnam and globally, respectively.

According to Kenh14, the majority of the outdoor scenes in Son Tung's new music video were filmed in the Mojave Desert, specifically Joshua Tree National Park in California and the Hoover Dam in Nevada. The desert's abundance of iconic Joshua trees and its close proximity to Los Angeles have made the Mojave a common filming location in Hollywood music videos and cinema, notably U2's famous Joshua Trees album cover, Missy Elliot's 'Lose Control' music video, the 2017's reboot of David Lynch's eccentric series Twin Peaks.

'Hãy Trao Cho Anh' is more even-handed with the desert imagery than many of the music videos that have come before it, utilizing visual cues such as shiny palaces, colder color tones and people partying in pools for a more polished atmosphere reminiscent of Pitbull and Marc Anthony's hit video 'Rain Over Me,' with added gold-plated objects and Burberry stripes.
