2014 Canon Photo Marathon Vietnam Comes To HCMC This Weekend

After a successful launch in Hanoi last Saturday in Hanoi, the 2014 Canon Photo Marathon Vietnam, “which aims to accentuate Vietnam’s natural and cultural charm,” will arrive in HCMC this weekend.

The contest, in its 9th year in Vietnam, invites professional and amateur photographers (locals and expats) “to nurture passion for photography in all camera users who are required to take theme-based photos during the day,” according to Tuoi Tre.

The event will take place at Military Zone 7 Stadium at 202 Hoang Van Thu Street, Phu Nhuan District on October 4 where an expected 10,000 participants will each receive three assignments and have three hours to complete them.

A board of judges will select the photographs that “most indicative of creativity and closeness to the topics.” The winner will receive EOS 700D kit 18-55, Canon Pixma MG2570 Photo Printer and the runner up will take home an EOS kit and Canon photo printer.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism the Marathon is the largest of such a contest in Asia.

You can register for the contests here.
