The children, all between the ages 6 and 12, live on a river in Long Xuyen, the capital of An Giang Province that lies about 4 hours west of Saigon.

Having been born without birth certificates, the children are unable to go to school and spend their days selling lottery tickets and catching fish.

Throughout the film, the children reveal some of their hopes and dreams – going to school, becoming doctors, living on land - and highlight sad realities relating to domestic abuse, poverty and lack of education.
