Saigon to Hold Nightly Music, Light Shows on Nguyen Hue Walking Street

To add to the hustle and bustle of downtown Saigon, a new water spectacle was recently announced.

VnExpress reports that a nightly music and light show will now take place on Nguyen Hue Walking Street from 5:30pm to 11pm on weekdays, while it will start at 4pm on weekends. However, the music will be turned off earlier than scheduled if it impacts hotel guests and residents living nearby.

Further details on what exactly will be involved in the shows hasn't been provided, but this is part of the recently unveiled lotus fountain where Nguyen Hue once intersected with Le Loi Street. The VND23 billion (US$992,000) fountain apparently symbolizes the solidarity of the people of Saigon.

According to the news source, more upgrades are on the way for Nguyen Hue, including improved lighting, more benches and garbage bins, and expanded security around the lotus fountain and the newly polished Ho Chi Minh statue in front of City Hall. More plants have also been installed around the statue.

It remains to be seen how this may impact future national football team viewing parts on the street.
