Firefighters in Hanoi have modified motorbikes with firefighting equipment in an effort to reach deep into the city's narrow alleys.
Dan Tri reports that several such bikes were recently introduced in the capital. Nguyen Truong Son, head of the Fire Prevention and Fight Division 2, told the news source that the project was created since fire engines have repeatedly struggled to enter alleyways in dense districts such as Ba Dinh and Dong Da.
The augmented motorbikes are perfect for fighting small alleys in tight lanes, and for navigating through traffic congestion to reach a blaze.
A metal frame has been attached to each bike so that they can carry fire extinguishers, masks, hammers and water pumps, in addition to other gear.
The same firefighting unit also plans to work with ward officials and install water pump systems in small alleys so that residents can begin to fight any fires that break out before firefighters arrive, the news source shares.
