Strange Fruit: Old Man Nearly Dies After Squash Mishap

Oh, Tuoi Tre, you sure know how to find the best stories. An 81-year-old Can Tho man hit a bum note when he was hospitalized after putting a squash up his anus to relieve his constipation, according to the newspaper.

His tried and tested method has worked before relatives said. On Tuesday, he wasn’t so fortunate as the squash, measuring 8cm wide and 20cm long, was stuck far inside his digestive track.

He was rushed to General Hospital No. 10 in the city’s Cai Rang District with severe pains in obvious places.

A surgical team was able to remove the squash with the old man being discharged after the operation.

Perhaps the old man should reach for the laxatives next time he wants to relieve his constipation (or at least master the squash method).
