Vinh Thinh Bridge, the longest in Vietnam, opened to traffic yesterday morning according to Tuoi Tre.
The 5,487 meter, four-lane bridge on Highway 2C spans the Hong River and connects Hanoi with northwest provinces such as Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Tuyen Quang.
Vinh Phuc Bridge was built to lower the traffic density on Highways 2, 3, 6 and 32.
Construction kicked off on December 18, 2011, and was financed with $137 million of overseas development aid provided by South Korea.
Finished 7 months ahead of schedule, Vinh Phuc Bridge is now Vietnam’s longest replaces the Vinh Thinh ferry which used to shuttle traffic across the Hong River.
While a major engineering milestone for the country, it's got nothing on Da Nang's Dragon Bridge.
