A leaky acid container being carried on the back of a truck in Hanoi caused serious burns to many pedestrians Monday evening. After a police chase, the driver was apprehended but not before spewing acid for 10km, reports Zing.
The incident occurred at 5:50pm on June 9. Police quickly chased down the truck, but the driver, Nguyen Minh Tuan, refused to pull over. Both police and civilians tried to get the truck to stop and after driving over Thanh Tri Bridge, the chase ended in the parking lot of a warehouse.
Two citizens, Tran Duc Manh and Tran Dang Duc, who helped police pursue the “giant monster,” suffered serious burns.
A number of pedestrians were immediately hospitalized for severe injuries but local police have yet to release the total number of those who were hurt in the incident.
