Nam and his Indian doubles partner, Sumit Nagal, beat out Reily Opelka (US) and Akira Santillan (Japan) in straight sets in the final of the tournament’s boy’s doubles event, according to Thanh Nien.
The underdog duo was seeded number 8 and wasn’t expected beat out their opponents, one of which was coming off a boy’s singles Grand Slam title.
“Nagal and I coordinated well. Nagal volleys well. I have improved. I don't know how to express my happiness at this win,” Nam told the press after the match, adding, “After being beaten in boy’s singles, I told myself to try harder in the doubles. I did not expect to reach the final. It was great and I am glad for that.”
