With US President Barack Obama in Saigon later today and tomorrow morning, city authorities have announced that access to up to 30 downtown streets will be limited.
Mr. Obama will arrive in our fair city this afternoon, forcing a full closure of Nguyen Van Troi and Nam Ky Khoi Nghia streets between 3pm and 4:30. A similar closure will be in effect tomorrow from 11:30am – 1:30pm as Obama returns to Tan Son Nhat for a flight to the G7 Summit in Japan, reports VnExpress.
Many downtown streets including Truong Son, Tran Quoc Hoan, Nguyen Van Troi, Dien Bien Phu, Dinh Tien Hoang, Vo Thi Sau, Hai Ba Trung, Nguyen Du, Le Duan, Nguyen Binh Khiem, Ton Duc Thang, Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Nguyen Trung Truc, Chu Manh Trinh, Mai Thi Luu, Nguyen Van Giai, and Nguyen Huy Tu, will be closed or limited to traffic as Obama makes stops at the Gem Center, the historic Jade Emperor Pagoda and Dreamplex.
All trucks with a loading capacity of over 500kg, taxis and busses will be totally banned from the aforementioned streets while personal cars and motorbikes will enjoy limited access.
