Twenty Vietnamese athletes will make the trek to Rio de Janeiro later this year.
The athletes will compete in 10 sports including fencing, weightlifting, badminton, gymnastics, shooting, wrestling, athletics, Judo, swimming and rowing, reports VietnamNet.
Vietnam will try to take home its third-ever Olympic medal at the games, which will take place from August 5-21. Tran Hieu Ngan won a silver medal in Taekwondo at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, while weightlifter Hoang Anh Tuan won the same in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
The country’s best hope for more hardware comes in the form of 19-year-old swimming phenom Nguyen Thi Anh Vien, who has been racking up gold medals at regional competitions over the past two years.
VietnamNet lists Hoang Xuan Vinh (shooting), Van Ngoc Tu (Judo), Tran Le Quoc Toan (weightlifting) and Thach Kim Tuan (weightlifting) as other athletes with a legit shot at securing Olympic glory.
