As the new year begins and the United States gears up for the inauguration of its 45th president, it’s not only American citizens who are sad to see Barack Obama leave the White House.
In a farewell video released by the White House last week, people from all walks of life shared their favorite moments from Obama’s presidency. Among those featured in the clip was Saigon rapper Suboi, whose exchange with the American leader earlier this year went viral after footage of her rapping for President Obama during a town hall meeting of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative reached international news sites.
“The moment when he picked me I was so happy,” Suboi says in the clip, adding toward the end: “Thank you, President Obama, for coming to Vietnam.”
Suboi shared the video on her Facebook page on the day of its release, writing: “I am honored to have played a small part in the making of this video for The White House but I am even more honored that they chose one very special moment out of many to highlight President Obama's last eight years.”
