The beauty of art is that it is all relative and often transcends traditional mediums. One such exception are the handmade noodles made by soba master Tatsuru Rai, owner and chef of Sobatei Rakuichi in Niseko, Hokkaido.
According to MAD4, a symposium that brings chefs from all over the world to Copenhagen:
[Tatsuru Rai] was the first person to appear on stage at the fourth annual MAD Symposium, in Copenhagen. Instead of giving a speech, Tatsuru demonstrated his craft in complete silence.
The process is mesmerizing if not magical as Tatsuru methodically folds, presses and rolls out his dough is nearly complete silence. Honestly, we wouldn’t have been surprised to see him pull a samurai sword out of his broth. Or unicorns.
