How would you rate the airport?

VnExpress reports that Hanoi's airport ranked in Skytrax's top 100 for the fifth year in a row, though it fell one spot from last year's ranking to 87th.

While Noi Bai's performance is admirable, the United Kingdom-based aviation consultancy's ranking placed a number of Southeast Asian hubs well ahead of the airport.

Changi in Singapore ranked first, as it usually does, while Soekarno-Hatta in Jakarta placed 35th, Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi came in 48th, and Kuala Lumpur International Airport ranked 63rd.

This was Changi's eighth straight year at the top, while Asia was well-represented in the rest of the top 10, with Seoul Incheon, Hong Kong International Airport, both of Tokyo's airports and Chubu Centrair Nagoya all performing well.

In 2014, Noi Bai was named one of the worst airports in the world in a survey by The Guide to Sleeping in Airports, but a number of improvements have been introduced since then. A survey conducted in 2018 by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam showed that local passengers deem Noi Bai Vietnam's second-best airport after Da Nang and before Tan Son Nhat.

A US$5.5 billion expansion, proposed in 2018, is expected to double Noi Bai's capacity to 50 million passengers per year by 2030, though it is unclear when that work would begin. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has also approved the construction of a third terminal and runway, though no firm dates are available for that work either.
