Tan Son Nhat Authorities Kill Dog for Trespassing on Airport Property

From stair car collisions to baggage truck accidents, rising floodwaters and less-than-positive passenger feedback, Tan Son Nhat is not the best place to be these days. As of this week, that statement applies not only to humans but also the animal kingdom, after one local dog met an unfortunate end on airport property.

According to Tuoi Tre, the dog ambled onto Tan Son Nhat grounds on Monday around 8am. Security officers attempted to chase the animal off airport property but were unsuccessful. After 15 minutes of “struggling to capture it”, the news outlet reported, the officers killed the dog in order to prevent it from reaching the airport runways.

Dang Tuan Tu, director of Tan Son Nhat International Airport said the incident took place during off-peak hours so Tan Son Nhat's flight schedule was not affected.

Though it's unclear whether the dog was a pet or a stray, security officers concede, the larger concern is that the dog made it onto airport property at all. Tan Son Nhat employees are currently checking the airport's fences and walls to ensure there are no breaches.
