Binh Duong has unveiled plans to construct a massive commercial complex in hopes of boosting the local economy and investment opportunities.
According to Tuoi Tre, the project is called the World Trade Center, undertaken by Becamex IDC, an industrial development company based in the province. The complex will be at the New City in Binh Duong and is a stone’s throw from the provincial administrative center.
At the moment, details on the project are scant, but local authorities are expected to present the World Trade Center plan as part of the 2019 Asian Economic Cooperation Forum that is taking place this November.
Apart from a department store, the complex, spanning 24 hectares, will also house office spaces, exhibition halls, an open square and a central station connecting it to the Suoi Tien terminal of the Saigon Metro Line 1, Dan Tri reports.
The presence of the World Trade Center is a puzzle piece in the provinces long-term effort to construct the Binh Duong Smart City, which will connect fast-growing localities such as Thu Dau Mot City, Di An, Thuan An and Tan Uyen. The smart city project was announced in 2016 and seeks to foster closer collaboration between the government, scientists and entrepreneurs.
