Special Delivery: Takeaway.com Acquires Vietnammm.com

Vietnammm, one of Vietnam’s most popular online delivery sites, has been acquired by Takeaway.com, a global leader in the industry. The move signals the Dutch company’s first move outside of Europe where they process over 1 million orders per month.

With over 20,000 orders per month, Vietnammm has been competing with Vietnam’s other online delivery players such as Eat.vn and Foodpanda which both enjoy financial backing from large companies. Now that Vietnammm can say the same, the rivalry may become even fiercer.

Beyond more funding, the acquisition will allow Vietnammm to take advantage of Takeaway.com’s superior mobile technology which includes apps for iOS, Android and Windows. Neither Eat.vn nor Hungrypanda offer these services in Vietnam.

While financial details of the deal haven’t been disclosed, Takeaway.com raised $17.8 million in funding last year so they probably have a bit of money to throw around.
