We all know that tipping isn’t really a thing in Vietnam and a recent study by Mastercard published in the Wall Street Journal backs this up with hard numbers.
The survey, conducted between October and November 2013, polled nearly 8,000 people across Asia about their tipping habits. Vietnam tied with Singapore with only 20% of respondents saying that they always left a tip after a meal.
Thailand led the pack at 84% and SE Asian nations seem to be fairly liberal tippers in general, especially compared to China, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea who barely tip at all (though these rankings probably have more to do with culture than generosity).
