The two centers are going to be located inside the Da Nang Hospital compound.
On May 29, Da Nang's Department of Planning and Investment announced that the municipal People's Committee recently greenlit the proposal for two specialist centers: one for transplant and stem cell therapy and one for neurosurgery, burn, injury and reconstructive surgery, Tuoi Tre reports.
The new centers are two of the most important projects for Da Nang's development between 2016 and 2020, with a total expected cost of VND967 billion (US$41.4 million).
The new transplant and stem cell therapy center will occupy a 2,629-square-meter area that consists of two basements, 11 floors and one technical floor. The total investment cost of over VND495 billion will be covered by the city's budget.
The new neurosurgery, injury, reconstructive surgery and burn center will cover a total area of 5,452 square meters with two basements, 11 floors, one technical floor and 407 hospital beds. The cost for the project, which is VND472 billion, will also come from the city's budget.
Construction of both centers is expected to officially start on September 2 this year and finish before 2022. With the new centers in place, authorities hope that the quality at the main Da Nang hospital will be improved, benefiting the city's residents as well as patients in the central region and Central Highlands.
