Back Arts & Culture » Music & Art » Open Call for Hanoi's 'Pure Gold' Upcycling Exhibition Running Until Next Week

Earlier this month, Germany’s IFA (Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations), in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut and Heritage Space, announced an open call for designers, producers, makers, artists and students who live and work in Vietnam to submit their works for an upcoming exhibition focusing on upcycling.

The event, named ‘Pure Gold. Upcycled! Upgraded!’, will take place in Hanoi from April 6 to May 12 at Heritage Space Gallery. Organizers are arranging the project as a response to vastly growing levels of consumerism and waste.

The project is an international touring exhibition; IFA has so far held 76 exhibits with a total of 53 designers. For organizers, after Vietnam was named as one of the top 5 countries contributing to plastic waste in the world’s oceans in 2018, holding an event in the country felt important.

The exhibition aims to raise awareness of alternative materials and calls for local artists to share product designs ideas that employ lower consumption of natural resources while at the same time expressing innovative design aesthetics.

Each application must include three works of art that focus on recycling or upcycling, a CV, and a wider portfolio. The open call will close on March 5. Applications can be sent to Wilfried.Eckstein@goethe.de or hello@heritagespace.com.vn
