Frenchman, Réhahn, has been taking pictures in Vietnam ever since he first visited the country in 2007 with a non-profit organization. He was immediately hooked, making annual trips to the country until deciding to permanently relocate, trading in his hectic life in France for the sleepy town of Hoi An.
Not only did he decide to start a new live in the ancient tourist town, but to pursue his passion as a photographer. After 7 years spent traveling and living in Vietnam, he has taken over 40,000 pictures, only 145 of which have made it into his recent photo book, Vietnam – Mosaic of Contrasts.
The key to Réhahn's pictures is the time he invests, getting to know his subjects before putting his finger on the shutter release. The result is images that tell a story, and that have a very personal feel.
Réhahn places great value on interacting and collaborating with other photographers and the work has paid off. His photos have been featured in prominent magazines and he enjoys a large following on his Facebook fan page.
All of this has culminated in the opening of a photo gallery in Hoi An, where he displays the best of his work.
Next time you’re in Hoi An, be sure to stop by to see his work and say hello as he spends every morning there when he’s not on a shoot.
