We're not huge fans of Americanization but there are some rare exceptions.
Concidering the current state of Vietnamese pop music, it's hard to believe there was a time when it was, to put it bluntly, good. A time before K-pop and obnoxious electronic music (you know, where every song has the same baseline).
With the American military machine came smatterings of American counter-culture which, at the time, was rocking out, getting high funky and playing awesome music. Some Vietnamese such as Hoang Oanh, adopted the American style with spectacular results.
Hoang Oanh was one of the most influential Vietnamese musicians during the American War and moved to the US in 1975. She's most famous for her songs on Paris by Night (1983), but in the 60s and 70s, she released some pretty epic tracks such as the one below, Fireballs.
We're not sure of the meaning of this song but if you have an idea, post it in the comments below!
