Can you hear me now?
VnExpress reports that three smartphones produced by VinSmart, the technology arm of Vingroup, are now on sale in the United States.
AT&T, one of the largest telecommunications companies in the US, is distributing the phones under the Fusion Z, Motivate and Maestro Plus names through its retail stores and chains such as Walmart.
Prices range from US$39 to 89, with the Fusion Z, for example, currently available on AT&T's website for US$39.99 with a two-year warranty and 16GB of storage. There is one review for the product from a consumer who gave it five starts and added "What can you buy with this price? This is the best choice!"
The phones fall under AT&T's branding and do not feature any reference to VinSmart. They operate on the 4G cell network.
VnExpress adds that the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved 10 Vsmart phones for the American market, though it is not known when other models will become available there. In a somewhat confusing naming convention, VinSmart is Vingroup's overall tech product company, while Vsmart is their phone brand.
Last November, it was reported that Vingroup had reached a deal to manufacture two million phones for an American company whose name wasn't made public at the time.
In May of 2019, Vsmart phones launched in Myanmar, following the brand's first international foray, to Spain, that March.
