This afternoon, users attempting to connect to the Google.vn homepage were greeted by text, a photo and video courtesy of what appears to be a small collective of American hackers.

The text on the page reads, “Hacked by Lizard Squad, greetz from antichrist, Brian Krebs, sp3c, Komodo, ryan, HTP & Rory Andrew Godfrey (holding it down in Texas),” and included a link to the groups Twitter account, Lizard Squad.

The hack also seems to have affected the search engine’s security protocols as we were served this warning when attempting any search on Google.vn:
As the hack seems to be Google.vn specific, you can use any other Google DNS (google.com, for example) for your search needs until the issue as been resolved.
While no country is immune to the malicious act as evidenced by the massive Sony hack late last year, it has become an increasingly serious issue in Vietnam over the past year.
