BackSociety » Vietnam’s First Professional MMA Fighter to Make Professional Debut in August

This August, Vietnam’s first professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter will make his debut.

According to Zing, Dong Nai native Tran Quang Loc will go head-to-head with Malaysian fighter Marc Marcellinus at the ONE Championship: Kings and Conquerors event in Macau on August 5.

Though this will be the 28-year-old’s first professional fight, Loc has been practicing martial arts since age 10. The 65-kilogram fighter drew attention last year for his victory at the amateur Warrior for Charity tournament in Malaysia, making him the first Vietnamese MMA fighter to win a foreign competition. More impressive is the fact that Loc managed to clinch the victory after dropping five kilograms in a single day due to a misunderstanding about his weight class.

In addition to Loc, Vietnamese-Australian fighter Martin Nguyen is also scheduled to fight at the ONE Championship event.
