Northern Vietnam has arguably the most charm of any region in a country graced with an abundance of natural beauty.
So, what could possibly make it more charismatic? A bit of time travel and black and white photography.
This set of Tonkin photos was taken between 1905-10 and shows bygone scenes - city dwellers being toted around on rickshaws - in addition to those that can still be found today - peasants toiling in the fields on Hanoi's outskirts.
