Yesterday morning a foreign woman was killed in Hoi An when her motorbike was hit by a truck.

Tuoi Tre reports that the accident occurred at 10am when a truck turned left onto Dien Bien Phu Street, hitting a foreign couple on their motorbike. Witnesses told the newspaper that after the initial impact, the female driver was thrown from the bike and crushed under the truck’s large wheels.

According to Thanh Nien, the male passenger jumped of the bike at the last second, sustaining only minor injuries.

After initially running from the scene, the truck driver turned himself in to local police.

The names and nationalities of the couple have not been announced.

An investigation is underway to determine the official cause of death.
