VnExpress reports that internet users in Vietnam can expect a poor connection after one of the country's main undersea cables has been disrupted yet again.
The Asia Pacific Gateway (APG) cable is completely offline after encountering an unknown problem on Saturday morning. Domestic internet service providers (ISPs) have diverted digital traffic elsewhere, but the Asia America Gateway (AAG), another major undersea cable, has also been hampered since earlier this month.
Repairs on the AAG are expected to be completed by June 2.
Most of Vietnam's international internet data comes through five undersea cables, two of which are now at least partially offline.
Tuoi Tre adds that the APG was completed in 2016 and connects Vietnam to China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and Singapore. It has the highest data capacity of any cable in Asia, but has frequently experienced issues in its link to Vietnam.
