BackStories » Vietnam » Drunk Man, Likely Korean, Arrested For Stealing Mai Linh Taxi

Binh Duong Province police are investigating a case wherein a drunken foreigner stole a Mai Linh taxi on July 12.

Tuoi Tre reports that the incident occurred at 3pm (this guy must have had quite a day) when taxi driver, Pham Quoc Tien, momentarily left his car by a supermarket to find customers.

When Tien returned, his taxi was nowhere to be found so he reported the incident to the Mai Linh dispatcher who instructed other drivers to keep an eye out for the car.

About 10 minutes later, a driver spotted the cab 7km from the market and the drunk man was detained by security guards from Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park 1 (it’s unclear if this was his place of work).

When police arrived and arrested the man, witnesses said that he spoke only 2 words in Vietnamese - “Hàn Quốc” (South Korea).

Yet another reason to avoid drunk driving.
