Kiwi chef, Bobby Chinn, has been appointed Vietnam Tourism Ambassador to the EU for the term July 2014 to July 2017.
The decision was announced at a July 17 press conference in Northern Ireland held jointly by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) and the Vietnam Embassy to the UK, according to VietNamNet.
Vietnamese tourism officials hope that his appointment will help encourage more Europeans to visit Vietnam.
”Vietnam is a friendly and attractive destination for foreign tourists, and I am confident that the new Vietnam Tourism Ambassador to EU Bobby Chinn will fulfill his task successfully,” said MoCST Deputy Minister Ho Anh Tuan.
Even though he isn’t Vietnamese, the celebrity chef has made a name for himself in Vietnam and currently owns a high-end restaurant in Hanoi.
